How to Measure DBH:
Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) is the standard method of measuring the size of a tree trunk. To determine the DBH of a tree, measure the circumference (I inches) of the tree trunk at a height of 4.5 feet from the ground. Calculate the diameter by dividing that circumference by 3.14. DBH is expressed in inches. (Ex. Loblolly pine @ 20" DBH)

Our most valuable asset is our people. Gunnison’s talented, committed employees are the heartbeat of our business. Our Safety and Training program protects our team members while providing professional development opportunities for each employee. Beyond Gunnison, our commitment to safety extends to the communities, utilities, and municipalities we serve.

How Do We Measure Safety?

Our safety program starts with training people. Providing quality training in the best practices ensures that everyone knows how to do their job safely and what to do in every situation. We know that providing the knowledge and tools to do the job effectively is the first step to creating a safe and productive work environment.

The first measure of safety standards is OSHA mandated safety training. Gunnison Tree Services conducts annual instruction on all required training for the tree care industry. Due to the nature of our work environment, it is also critical that our employees understand and are properly trained in Electrical Hazard Awareness. Every employee is encouraged to learn new skills and is provided with checklists to complete as they progress through their trade. This ensures that no employee is pushed beyond their skill set.

State of the Art Equipment

The right tools for the right job keep our employees safe. Providing state-of-the-art equipment that is maintained and inspected regularly is essential to our work environment. Our safety program creates a series of checks and balances to ensure that our employees feel confident and trust the tools and equipment provided.

We Keep Our Clients Safe

Gunnison specializes in patrolling, identifying, removing, and recording high-risk trees in the vicinity of high voltage power lines. We know how important it is to keep your power on for the safety and comfort of your home. That is why we follow NERC compliance standards in identifying and eliminating these potential threats.

Health Is a Priority

COVID-19 is a safety priority. The health and wellness of our employees and those around us are of utmost concern. Our COVID-19 safety protocols follow the guidance of the CDC and healthcare officials.
